How it works

How a development project actually runs

Eight weeks for a typical marketing site, reviewed weekly on a live preview URL rather than revealed at the end.

01Week 1

Technical discovery

Requirements, integrations, hosting constraints and — stated up front — a performance budget. We agree what the site must weigh and how fast it must load before anyone writes code, because retrofitting speed is far more expensive than building for it.

02Week 1–2

Architecture

Stack selection, data model, CMS choice and environment setup. We recommend the simplest thing that meets the requirement. A static site that a CDN can cache entirely will beat a heavy framework for most marketing sites, and costs less to run.

03Week 2–6

Build

Components, templates, CMS wiring and integrations, with staged reviews on a live preview URL rather than a big reveal at the end. You see progress weekly and can redirect while it is still cheap.

04Week 6–7

Performance and accessibility QA

Core Web Vitals measured against the agreed budget, WCAG 2.2 A/AA testing with real assistive technology, cross-browser checks and security headers. Findings are fixed before launch, not logged as future work.

05Week 7–8

Launch and handover

Deployment, analytics and conversion tracking verified against real events, documentation, a training session for whoever maintains it, and a warranty period covering anything that surfaces after go-live.

Budget

What drives the price of a website build

Development quotes are hard to compare because two agencies can describe the same site completely differently. One quotes six templates; the other quotes forty pages. They may be the same project.

These are the variables that genuinely move the cost. Anything else in a quote is usually a repackaging of one of them.

Unique templates, not page count. Forty pages built from six templates is a six-template project. Ask any agency quoting you to state templates rather than pages — it is the single fastest way to compare bids honestly.
CMS or static. If content changes weekly you need a CMS and the editing experience that goes with it. If it changes twice a year, a static build is faster, cheaper, more secure and essentially free to host.
Integrations. Payment gateways, booking engines, CRM sync, ERP feeds and third-party APIs each carry their own edge cases, failure states and testing burden. This is where honest estimates diverge most from optimistic ones.
Content migration. Moving two hundred existing pages with their URLs, redirects and media intact is real work, and it is where SEO gets destroyed when it is treated as an afterthought.
Ongoing maintenance. Updates, backups, monitoring and security patching are a running cost, not part of the build. We quote it separately so you can see it rather than discovering it later.

How we structure engagements

Fixed-scope build.

Defined templates, integrations and timeline, quoted as a fixed price. Appropriate when requirements are clear, which covers most marketing sites and brochure-plus-commerce builds.

Phased MVP.

Launch a deliberately narrow first version, then extend against what real usage shows. Better for products where the requirements are still genuine questions.

Maintenance retainer.

Updates, monitoring, performance checks, security patching and a monthly allocation of change requests once the site is live.

Every engagement is quoted as a fixed price before work begins. Tell us what you are building and we will scope it properly.

Fit

Who this is for — and who it isn't

We would rather lose the enquiry now than the project in week six.

This is a good fit if

Your site fails Core Web Vitals and you have been told it is costing you rankings and conversions.
You need real functionality — payments, bookings, a catalogue, a customer portal — not a brochure.
You have outgrown a template site and every change now requires a workaround.
You need a site that meets accessibility standards for procurement, tender or compliance reasons.
You want to edit your own content without raising a ticket with a developer every time.

Look elsewhere if

You want the cheapest possible template build. That market exists and it is not where we compete.
You need someone to take over an undocumented legacy codebase and keep it alive indefinitely.
You need it live next week. We will tell you honestly rather than promise it and miss.
You want traffic guarantees attached to a build. Development affects rankings, but nobody can guarantee them.

Products we've built and launched

Three builds with genuinely different engineering problems.

Commerce build

Puja Desk

A bilingual booking portal with catalogue, cart, checkout and live payments — built for users largely transacting online for the first time, where a failed payment state mattered more than a nice animation.

Sun Twilight

A media-heavy showcase for 149 luxury villas across a 25-acre estate, where the engineering problem was delivering large imagery fast enough to hold a high-intent visitor.

FAQ

Web Development Questions

Both. Plutinos Technologies is a full-service agency — our UI/UX designers and front-end/back-end developers work in the same team. You get a single point of contact and a seamless design-to-development handoff, eliminating the friction of working with separate agencies.
You own 100% of the code, assets, and intellectual property upon final payment. We provide complete source code handoff, deployment credentials, and documentation. No vendor lock-in.
Yes. We frequently extend, refactor, or redesign existing products. We begin with a technical audit to understand the current architecture, identify risks, and recommend the best path forward.
We offer monthly maintenance retainers covering security updates, bug fixes, performance monitoring, and minor feature additions. Retainer pricing depends on the scope of the product and your expected change frequency.
Pricing varies widely by scope. A 5–8 page marketing website typically starts at $1,000. A full custom web application with back-end systems typically starts at $5,000+. We provide a detailed, itemized quote for every project after a discovery call.
The honest answer is that it depends on unique templates, whether you need a CMS, and how many integrations are involved — not on page count, which is the number most quotes lead with. Forty pages built from six templates is a six-template project. When comparing bids, ask every agency to quote templates and integrations rather than pages; it is the fastest way to see whether you are comparing like with like. We quote a fixed price once scope is agreed.
A typical marketing site runs seven to eight weeks from discovery to launch. Commerce and booking products take longer because payment flows, failure states and edge cases need real testing. The largest variable is content: projects almost always wait on copy and imagery from the client rather than on development, so we agree a content deadline at kickoff and build around it.
We recommend whatever fits the requirement rather than defaulting to one stack. If content changes weekly and several people edit it, a CMS makes sense. If it changes rarely, a static build is faster, cheaper to host, far more secure and easier to cache at the edge. Our own site is fully static, accessibility-audited and CDN-served — the same standard we build for clients.
We agree a performance budget during discovery and test against it before launch rather than treating speed as something to fix later. That covers image formats and sizing, render-blocking resources, caching and CDN configuration. Performance is a build decision, not a plugin you add at the end — which is why sites retrofitted for speed rarely reach the same numbers.
Yes, as a separate retainer covering updates, backups, uptime monitoring, security patching and a monthly allocation for change requests. We quote it separately and visibly so it is a decision you make rather than a cost you discover. If you would rather maintain the site in-house, we hand over full documentation and run a training session at launch.
